On The Scene: Auctions America

FROM RM AUCTIONS:
With only two months to re-vamp the auction park in Auburn, Indiana, we had a lot to do but not much time to accomplish it. But thanks to a lot of hard work, Auctions America by RM rose to the occasion and pulled off a very successful first auction over the Labor Day weekend. Many people expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for all the upgrades made to the park, and the warm reception from all the fellow car enthusiasts in Indiana gave the event a truly fun atmosphere. In addition to the daily preview of quality automobiles and auction action, the event presented a swap meet, car corral and food vendors, and over the course of the Labor Day weekend, over 25,000 people attended the debut event!
The top seller was a 1934 Duesenberg Model JN Convertible Sedan that went for $962,500 on Saturday before a packed auction house. Almost 60% of the registered bidders were new clients to RM, and total sales reached $13.4 million, with a 52.7 percent sell through rate of all lots including motor cars, motorcycles and memorabilia. Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make the first event at the Auburn Auction Park such a great success!
So every year we make the trek up to Northern Indiana for the Kruse International Auction. This year, there was a bit of drama leading up to the event. Apparently Kruse wasn’t paying out when a car would sell or something, got themselves into a bit of trouble, and were bought out. RM did a great job though, with the most obvious improvement being in the facilities, everything was nice and new.
The turn-out was better than the past couple years, and there were quite a few awesome cars on hand: a Studebaker based rat rod, Jaguar XK racecar, Russian Airboat, and a Model T based Indycar were some of my favorites.

Bringing back the fun to the Indy car scene, we helped throw a decent sized cruise in that ended up being very productive. What’s better than to hangout and talk about cars? Well, maybe but we had a blast seeing some of our old friends and hanging out. Take a look at some of the pictures Jorge snapped.

It’s always nice to run into some old friends, especially when it’s anything car related. This past weekend Jorge and I went out to the 2nd annual Madcou Fall meet to meet up with some old car friends and pass out stickers and let them know about our car meet that is going on this upcoming weekend. Was really nice to recognize some of the cars that I have seen around other blogs/websites. We sure have jotted down some ideas to take back to the fort and create some new awesomeness in the near future.
Thanks to our friends at Madcou for throwing the event.

This is a bit belated, it was actually last weekend the day after MDU Round 4. The local British Car Club puts on a little show every year that I always like to make. They have a nice mix of old, modern, performance, and well… not. Old Jags, Triumphs, Bentleys, Loti (obvious plural for Lotus), MGs, Jensens, Minis, pretty much everything is well represented, even a couple oldschool racecars. If it has wonky electrics, it’s here.
There were even a few gems in the parking lot. My favorite, a pretty rad Triumph bobber/chopper/whatever.

Last weekend we were busy at the last Pro-Am event in the region with our friends at Midwest Drift Union. We had the pleasure to pass out a ton of Enthusiast stickers and hangout with an awesome group of drivers and fans. We left with some new ideas for designs and we have a few surprises we’ll be bringing to the table soon.
